Honors College Now
Honors College Ambassadors
Honors Ambassadors is a student-run group of current honors students who represent the Honors College at open houses, question and answer panels and other recruitment events. Honors Ambassadors are available to host prospective students on select days during the year. Host-a-Days allows new students to explore the everyday life of an Honors student, from classes to campus activities. Honors Ambassadors are the bridge between prospective and current Honors students, and a powerful resource for attracting students to UMD.
Students who are interested in becoming an Honors Ambassador should email honorsambassadors1@gmail.com.
Meet Our Student Coordinators
Hi! I’m Sonya Datta, and I am a sophomore studying Arabic and Criminology & Criminal Justice. I am a
member of the Advanced Cybersecurity Experience for Students (ACES) living and learning program, and I am
super excited to be one of the Honors Ambassadors’ Student Coordinators! Outside of classes, I am a cadet in
Air Force ROTC, and I hope to be a combat fighter pilot some day for the US Air Force! I am also on the
Women’s Club Crew Team, and I fly single-engine Cessna aircraft as a hobby. I’ve been an ambassador since
my first semester freshman year, and I became one because I absolutely love UMD and everything it has to
offer. I want to show off the honors college and encourage other students to join UMD and have the same
opportunities that I do! I look forward to a fantastic new semester and year with all of you! If you have any
questions, always feel free to reach out. Go Terps!

Hello! I’m Devika Haridas, and I am a sophomore in the Honors Humanities LLP, studying public health science. Outside of Honors Ambassadors, I work as a medical scribe, and I’ve participated in population genetics research at the National Museum of Natural History. I joined Honors Ambassadors during my freshman year because I love helping to show prospective students and their families all that our Honors College has to offer – especially the opportunity to explore areas outside of your major. Honors Ambassadors is also so special to me because we get to take part in bringing new students into our incredibly diverse and bright student community here at Maryland. I am so excited to serve as one of your student coordinators, and I look forward to a wonderful semester! Go Terps!

Hi! My name is Kirby Rhodes. I am a junior pursuing dual degrees in finance and public health science and I am a member of the University Honors living-learning program. I joined Honors Ambassadors in my first semester freshman year because I love to talk to prospective students and families about the many opportunities the Maryland Honors College has to offer, and look forward to serving as an Honors Ambassador Student Coordinator during the next two semesters. Outside of the Honors College, I am involved with the Maryland English Institute and work at the National Institutes of Health. If you have any questions about the University of Maryland Honors College or Honors Ambassadors, please feel free to contact me. Go Terps!
